Kevin and Nicola Wells..... twice felt compelled to turn to a medium for information denied them by investigating officers.
Although they know now their daughter was dead even before they realised she was missing, the couple came into such conflict with police in the high-tension days during the hunt for Holly and Jessica that it reduced them to despair..........
......Such was their inability to squeeze any information out of the force that in March the couple turned again to Cambridgeshire medium Dennis McKenzie, who had told them two days into the hunt that Holly and Jessica were both dead.
He offered chillingly accurate descriptions of Huntley and Carr.
Kevin and Nicola had passed that information to the police but were told that detectives dealt in factual evidence and that no help offered by a medium would contribute to the inquiry.
'On that second meeting in March we were told the girls were victims of anger, not sex,' says Kevin. 'It makes us think that although Huntley had a sexual intention, he was somehow thwarted.
'The medium also told us that Holly and Jessica were dead before 8pm on the Sunday and this was, of course, several months before Huntley admitted that for the first time in the witness box at the Old Bailey.
'He told us that Carr was not at the house at the time - again information not in the public domain - and repeated that a second male was involved.
'The medium also managed to reach Holly. We were sceptics by nature but we truly believe it was her.
'He offered details he could not have known, such as the name of her favourite shop in Cambridge and the nickname that she, and she alone, had for her brother . . . Olls.
'This made us all the more sure that the other details were genuine and again we passed them to the police. But they were treated very coolly.'
